Anderson ends the season on a positive note

Monday, April 25th, 2011

Rolling out to the first test session with a proven setup from last year, Andrew was confident of regaining the traditional top ten form of the ITM Commodore.  Whilst the car still needed a little more balance, Andrew was pleased to be seventh fastest and first Holden.

The team put new brakes on for the second test session and Andrew set off to bed them in.  Completing his first flying lap, the car jolted under brakes, stepped out and suddenly he was overtaken by his left rear wheel.  Running down the escape road at turn one, Andrew’s session was over as the wheel studs had shorn off. Anderson set to fly the ITM flag at the ITM400

Monday, April 25th, 2011

This year the NZV8s arrive at the ITM400 in Hamilton for the final round of the championship instead of the usual trophy event.  Although not competing for points at previous ITM400 events, the racing has been no less intense with the drivers putting on some of the most action packed racing of the weekend.

“This year has been a difficult one for the ITM Racing team.  We are not where we expected to be on the championship ladder, but with some developments since Taupo, we are in with a shot to finish the season on a high.”  (more…)

ANDERSON EXPERIENCES UPS AND DOWNS AT TAUPO

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

With a refreshed ITM Commodore, Andrew headed out for the first test session but soon suffered a return of the rear grip gremlins.  The team worked through some planned changes but little gains were made.

Between the test sessions, a revised set up was adopted and showed some promise.  Making some tweaks during the second session, Andrew was able to make some time gains and was confident heading into qualifying. (more…)

ANDERSON SEEKING TO PUSH FORWARD

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

The NZV8s head to Taupo on 11-13 March for the penultimate round of this year’s championship.  With two rounds and six races remaining, the ITM Racing entry of Andrew Anderson is poised to push forward into a top ten position in the highly competitive category.

In the final race of the previous round, Andrew was able to work forward over the weekend to be racing along side the likes of defending champion Craig Baird.  “Each year the category gets tougher and the difference between the teams is certainly getting narrower.” (more…)

Anderson entertains the crowd at Manfeild

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

The Manawatu turned on some scorching weather for the NZV8 test sessions on Saturday.  The track temperature was 50 degrees and the cabin reached 48 degrees. Chasing the conditions, the ITM Racing team worked hard to get the car in the window but balance and rear grip were proving elusive.

Heading into qualifying, the changes made between the sessions were proving positive.  Electing to make one further change mid session, it was out for a quick reference lap before pitting for green tyres. (more…)

Anderson looking for a change in luck

Monday, February 7th, 2011

With the NZV8s returning to the North Island for the remaining three rounds of the championship series, Andrew Anderson is hoping that this is the catalyst for a change in recent on track fortunes.

“It’s been good to get all our gear back to our team base after running the last three rounds on the road from the transporter.  It has given us a chance to go over the car from top to bottom in the workshop.” (more…)

Anderson struggles down south

With drizzle greeting us on Saturday morning at the Levels Raceway, the ITM Racing team worked on the chassis set up to further test the recent Holden upgrades.  With minor tuning throughout the first test session, the ITM Commodore responded and Andrew chipped away at his times, ending up 14th fastest. Improved results slip away in southern squall

Monday, January 17th, 2011

After what seemed like a long break from the track since round 2, the ITM Racing team hit the track on Friday for a shakedown and hot laps.  “With the new suspension parts installed, the feel of the car was greatly changed, and with some tuning, I am sure it will be faster” said Andrew.

The first test session on Saturday was all about getting to grips with the new adjustments and finding a balance window.  With the ITM Commodore responding well, Andrew improved from 11th in the first session to 9th in the second session.  (more…)

Anderson aiming to crack top ten

Monday, January 17th, 2011

This weekend sees the ITM Racing team return to the track at the world’s southernmost FIA approved motor racing circuit, Teretonga Park.  Arriving a couple of days early for this weekend, the team will carry out routine servicing and also take the chance to install some new Holden homologation parts approved over the new year period.  In an effort for the class to address the parity issue, the category has undertaken some controlled testing over the last month and has approved these upgrades to address some of the Holden handling issues. Anderson makes the Top 10 for the weekend

Monday, November 29th, 2010

Following on from the initial shakedown on Friday, Andrew headed out for the first test session to get a read on the chassis improvements.  After a couple of timed runs, it was back to the pits for some changes.  Unfortunately some component issues were experienced and the ITM Commodore spent the second half of the session in the pits as the team tried to get it repaired.
